I am a prodigy, some call us Avatars and others call us Champions... but I prefer Prodigy.
I am not alone, there are more of us, I am not sure how many there are but I can feel the others out there.
There are many of us, more emerging ever year. As far as I can tell the first of us was born two and a half decades ago, but maybe we have always been around, maybe all those stories about great warriors of history slaying hundreds in battle weren't just stories. It could be that the legends of Lu Bu or Mitsuhide Sakai weren't just the exaggerations people often assumed they were.
But even if we had always been there, the world was only just now starting to wake up to our existence.
What is a prodigy?
How did I find out I was different?
Both of those can be answered with a single story. Well maybe more of an anecdote.
I was five years old and my dad did what so many other parents were doing for their children at that time, he decided to sign me up for a karate class. It probably wasn't a terrible idea, a new dojo had just opened up near where we lived and it probably would have built up my self esteem or made me disiplined or whatever... if I wasn't different.
The instructor at that Dojo, on my first day of class, asked for a volunteer, a new student who would help him demonstrate to the other new students and the parents who had decided to watch, including my father, what a child who knew what they were doing could do to defend them self when being harassed by an adult.
So the instructor, a fifth degree black belt, took hold of my right arm and told me how to pull away from him. Instead I did what came naturally to me, what he told me to do wouldn't work in the real world and I knew that... so instead I did what I knew would work.
He woke up in the hospital a week later.
To put it simply an Avatar, Prodigy, Champion, whatever the hell you wanna call me and the others like me, are people who are naturals when it comes to the marital arts, living weapons each and every one of us.
Strong, fast, capable... and soon we will end up changing the world.
